A review of postmortem human brain studies found that the lnc-ELFN2-2 is upregulated in the anterior cingulate cortex of subjects with major depressive disorder who died by suicide [Yoshino & Dwivedi DOI:10.3389/fpsyt.2020.543893]. A study in mice demonstrated that binge-like ethanol consumption via a drinking-in-the-dark paradigm significantly increased the lnc-ELFN2-2 expression in the prefrontal cortex, as identified by RNA-seq analysis [Vallerini et al.
