A study in human postmortem midbrain specimens from chronic cocaine abusers identified the lnc-FGF9-3 as a dysregulated long noncoding RNA, showing a 1.36-fold down-regulation in cocaine abusers compared to matched controls [Bannon et al. DOI:10.1111/jnc.13255]. This finding was part of a profile of 32 robustly dysregulated lncRNAs determined via custom microarray analysis, with the lnc-FGF9-3 classified as intergenic with nearest neighbors being clusters of other lncRNAs.
