Forensic Context

A study in mice, rats, monkeys, and human cell lines demonstrated that ionizing radiation significantly alters cutaneous fatty acid metabolism, increasing levels of metabolites like succinic acid, linoleic acid, and arachidonic acid, and upregulating key genes including ACADVL, which was validated by immunohistochemistry across species [Tu et al. DOI:10.1016/j.jdermsci.2023.01.001]. A study in human postmortem midbrain demonstrated that lnc-JMJD7-PLA2G4B-2, a long noncoding RNA antisense to SPTBN5, was significantly down-regulated (-1.50-fold) in chronic cocaine abusers compared to matched controls [Bannon et al. DOI:10.1111/jnc.13255].
