Forensic Context

A study in human postmortem midbrain specimens demonstrated that the lnc-MSX1-2 was significantly down-regulated (-1.35-fold) in chronic cocaine abusers compared to well-matched controls, as identified via a custom lncRNA microarray [Bannon et al. DOI:10.1111/jnc.13255]. This antisense lncRNA was part of a validated profile of 32 dysregulated lncRNAs, implicating it in the cellular responses of human dopamine neurons to chronic cocaine abuse.
