Forensic Context

A study in human postmortem midbrain specimens from chronic cocaine abusers identified the lnc-ZFAT-1 as a dysregulated long noncoding RNA, showing a 1.33-fold up-regulation in cocaine abusers compared to matched controls [Bannon et al. DOI:10.1111/jnc.13255]. This intergenic lncRNA is adjacent to MIR30B and MIR30D on the same strand, and its differential expression was part of a validated profile of 32 lncRNAs implicated in the cellular responses of human dopamine neurons to chronic cocaine abuse.
