This gene produces a long non-coding RNA that is overexpressed in prostate cancer and may act a marker for tumor progression. This RNA may act a negative regulator of apoptosis, and may promote activity of androgen receptor and Myc. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2017]
A study in human postmortem nucleus accumbens tissue identified several long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) represented on Affymetrix microarrays, with five consistently detected; the abundance of the PCGEM1 was not consistently detected in the human nucleus accumbens samples in this investigation [Michelhaugh et al.
