Forensic Context

A study in mice demonstrated that repeated cocaine administration decreased expression of LINC00473 in the nucleus accumbens, and its viral-mediated overexpression in this region reduced cocaine-induced conditioned place preference, decreased cocaine intake and motivation, and facilitated extinction of cocaine-seeking behavior [Xu et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Biopsych.2020.05.004]. A study in mice demonstrated that selection for ethanol preference significantly altered gene expression networks in the nucleus accumbens shell, where the LINC00473 was identified as a splicing hub node directly associated with alcohol-related phenotypes [Colville et al. DOI:10.1111/Gbb.12367]. In a separate investigation, chronic methamphetamine administration in mice induced significant transcriptomic changes in cortical glial cells, where the LINC00473 was significantly upregulated in astrocytes as part of the dysregulated cAMP signaling pathway [Oladapo et al.
