A study in human body fluids evaluated the SNORD38B as a candidate reference RNA for miRNA-based body fluid identification using RT-qPCR [Sauer et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2014.08.005]. A subsequent study in human venous blood, saliva, semen, and vaginal secretion also evaluated the SNORD38B as a candidate reference RNA, finding its expression levels were significantly lower in infertile semen compared to fertile semen and noting it showed a high "Stability value" in NormFinder but a low "Power of HKG" in BestKeeper analysis [Shuntaro Fujimoto et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2018.08.010].
